My wife Margaret and I purchased what was at the time, San Juan Insurance Center, back in 1983.  In the year 2000 we changed our business name to Islanders Insurance to more accurately reflect our business operations, we provide insurance to all the islands.
I have achieved the CIC designation and am a member of the Big I of Washington as well as the PIA of Washington.  I have been blessed to have a supportive family in this endeavor as well as an excellent staff.
My outside interests are always evolving, but first and foremost, is my family and this community of Friday Harbor.  I have been involved with many local not for profit organizations over the years.  In my free time, which I am getting more of these days, I enjoy bicycling, skiing, gardening, hiking, playing a little tennis, and boating.  Occasionally I find time to read a good book that has been recommended to me by my wife of 40 years.
Ian  I started in the Insurance business, joining my family’s Miami, FL Agency in 1981, after graduating from Florida State University. After several years training in personal lines I moved to their Boca Raton, then to the Coral Springs branch offices, where my primary responsibility was developing new business and servicing select accounts. I continued in the Agency through 1991, when I left South Florida to travel and wound up on San Juan Island in the Spring of 1992.

After a break from the business, I joined Islanders Insurance in 2004 and like being in a smaller, more casual office environment. I enjoy working with people – helping them design an Insurance Program that is appropriate to their individual situations.

I enjoy fitness activities, playing guitar, and traveling with my wife Laura.
Jodi  In 1993, thinking it would be an adventure, I moved to Friday Harbor from Sacramento CA. My first job was at the Roche Harbor donut shop. By the end of the summer, I was in love with the Island and the people – I knew this was my home. Since then I have worked several places, most recently at Islanders Bank for 5 years, before accepting an offer from Islanders Insurance in 2007.

I was a client of Islanders Insurance before coming to work here. I always liked how I was treated and that my questions were answered. I’ve felt like a part of the team since my first day at the agency. I enjoy working with clients and can assist with any billing or non-coverage questions that they might have.

I’m happily married and have a beautiful dog, which we adopted, from our local shelter – and – we live, laugh, and love everyday.
Gigi  I joined San Juan Insurance Center, now Islanders Insurance, in 1991. I enjoy the challenge of finding the best insurance options to fit my client’s needs. I appreciate the opportunity to work with like-minded colleagues who share a commitment to provide service in an honest, professional manner.

I move to Friday Harbor in 1976. I have three children and have three grandchildren. I enjoy gardening, reading, hiking and especially spending time with my grandchildren.

As of January 1, 2011, I acquired 50% ownership in the agency with plans to purchase the remaining 50% over the next few years.
Mary  I moved to San Juan Island in 1977 with my husband, Dick. I started in the insurance business in 1991 and have enjoyed the challenges of the industry as well as the people I have met along the way.

When not at work I enjoy spending time with our three grown children and two grandchildren. I also enjoy watching sporting events, quilting, and escaping in our 5th wheel trailer every chance we get.
